4 Ways to Focus & Regroup for the Week Ahead
Happy Sunday, ya’ll. I'm all about self-care so today I'm taking time to focus and recenter ourselves so we can concentrate on the week ahead. Self-care is so important – take the time to be a little selfish today! I'm sharing four tips to help you regroup for your upcoming week. As entrepreneurs and moms alike, our schedules quickly become jammed packed with endless work, carpools, chasing kids till we run out of breath; all the while trying to make it to the gym. We end up shoving all of this into one day and we forget to give ourselves a little break. Which is why, every Sunday, we work on us.
I try to reserve Sundays for family time, but at the end of the day I carve out a few moments to give myself some love.
Here's how I love to focus:
Breathing exercises. You don’t have to be a master at meditation to make this effective. Take 10-15 minutes to focus purely on taking deep breaths through your nose and out your mouth. Let your mind be at peace – the grocery list, dinner, everything else can wait.
Make your favorite food. Whether it’s mac and cheese or a steak dinner, get it in the oven and sit down at the table and enjoy it. Leave behind your electronics out of it. Make it a date with yourself. Savor each bite as if it’s something you’ve never tasted before.
Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. According to the University of California, 200 mg of caffeine has positive effects on long-term memory. Yep! Now there is a healthy reason to drink coffee. Tea has some amazing flavors and it also has a number of health benefits. Think fat burner and heart disease preventer.
Putting on your favorite playlist! I love jamming to my favorite songs. It helps me focus and energize to be on our toes for the day. Grab your iPod or iPhone and put your favorite songs on repeat. Here are my songs for working Sundays and Monday mornings when we just aren’t feeling it yet.
